I often dream that I am lost, or I am at school or work, in a place that I haven't been to before.
I'm also late for work or haven't been to work?
There are spiritual undertones to this dream because being lost is a way to help you understand how much there is to learn regards being 'found' in the spiritual sense. School and work also relay the same message in that we are all here to learn and experience. We grow and develop through experience.
We dream of places that we haven't been to before when it is time to move forward and welcome pastures new, not always new places but more likely new phases of life, or moving in a new direction. Dreaming about places you haven't been before often describes new horizons for you.
School and work could possibly represent spiritual work, but remember that when you care for other people this is still spiritual work. When you dream that you are late for work or haven't been to work it is because you have neglected an aspect of yourself, perhaps the spiritual side of yourself, maybe you have concentrated all your energies on earthly physical things and have not given attention to other types of work that needs doing.
I have known people to dream of not attending work when they are not happy with some aspects of the work that they do. Although physically you have to go to work, in your dreams you are choosing to stay away. Not wanting to go to work in a dream is often a direct hint at not enjoying the work you are doing in your life, there is an overlap because you are failing to make changes which will remedy the unhappiness. You have to deal with the fear of the unknown in order to make much needed changes. When things are that bad the unknown is probably better.
Being lost is often used to symbolise the feeling of not knowing which way to turn, or of not knowing the way forward, quite often this happens when people are spiritually lost. To find yourself and uncover facets that you have never taken notice of is a way for you to move forward and become an all-rounded individual.
These types of dreams continue to play out throughout our lives because we never stop learning or developing. Being lost in a dream is common for everyone, it hints at the ability to move forward when you can't cope with life, or with a life challenge. Finding your way back is a symbol of being able to find your way back to normality, to feeling normal again after an emotional upheaval.
Being late for work is a common dream whereby you aren't able to get to work for one reason or another. This is simple, it means that you are letting things get in the way of your spiritual development or you are putting off the inevitable. There is work to be done but you just keep letting other things get in the way. Life tends to get in the way of our dreams and wishes, the work you are supposed to be doing is getting pushed aside for daily routines. Any of these things could be true, or all of them. Working on yourself is equally as important and necessary as the work you do for other people.
When we dream that we can't get things done on time it is because we feel overwhelmed by the demands of life and the responsibilities we have, there are to many expectations on us and we feel that we are going to let people down. Trying to get to work or school on time describes the pressure we feel at having to keep up with the demands put upon us, we know that some things have to be done and our inability to arrive on time in a dream happens when we feel like we always have to answer to someone, dance to their drum or keep pace with their expectations.
Another reason for lateness in dream language is because we feel like we are running out of time to achieve our dreams.
Going to work or school but not doing any actual work
This type of dream can describe inertia, or lack of progress for whatever reason, its common when someone is frustrated or bored with their work, it also happens when you procrastinate a lot. Instead of finding a new interesting type of work, you plod along because its easy. The work you do doesn't provide any challenge for you but you feel obligated to carry on anyway but remember that your only real obligation is to yourself.
Obstacles to your learning and achievement!
